Babies Give Messages in Sign Language

Sometimes it can be really hard to communicate with babies. When they read a certain age there can be many moments where we are just longing to figure out what it is that they want or what it is that will make them stop crying. Trying to satisfy a crying baby can be very hard and frustrating especially if you feel you try everything and in the end it was just the little green dinosaur in the corner that was causing all the trouble. Wouldn’t it be great if you just knew what your baby wanted?

Before the spoken language is developed you need to rely on your other senses in order to communicate with your baby. However, many people have success using sign language for babies. This refers to a system where your baby learns a set of signs that you use to communicate. In the beginning, you might start out with few simple signs for eating, drinking, sleeping and diaper changing. Later on, when your baby has learned to master the initial signs, you might add more complicated signs to communicate about toys, other people, games, types of food and so on.

Understanding What Babies Want

Using sign language for babies can be very rewarding for both parent and baby. It stimulates the baby in the ability to communicate and it will be helpful when it is time to learn the spoken language, as the baby is already used to two way communication. It is also very beneficial for a baby to be able to use expressions as it can be very frustrating not to be understood well. Using sign language for babies you can avoid many frustrating situations where you don’t know what your baby wants or needs.

You can start using sign language as early as 9 or 10 months of age and you will use it until around 2 or 2,5 years of age where the spoken language is fully developed.
